Climate system department
The department „climate system“ provides data and information about climatic changes. Clients from industry and administration get reliable, scientific information for decision making processes. Users of climate model data – especially those who don´t work in the fields of climate research – are assisted in accessing climate model data and are informed about how to handle and interpret these data. A close cooperation with the German Climate Computing Centre (DKRZ) concerning the access to the CERA-database of the World Data Center for Climate (WDCC) will be developed.
One of the focuses of the department „climate system“ is to develop a multi-model-chain, in order to calculate regional and local climate changes. From the calculated data further products are generated, which are necessary for climate impact research, vulnerability studies and adaptation to climate change respectively. A further focus is on the development of products for seasonal forecasts.
