A workshop entitled “Confidence in Climate Services” will take place at GERICS from 15-17th February 2016.

Delegates from ten FP7 European projects and two institutions, operating in the fields of climate change and its impact, will discuss different aspects of uncertainties in climate data. The focus is on the communication of uncertainties in a manner, which develops confidence.

The objectives of the workshop are
• to share information between delegates of European projects and institutions
• to create an authoritative report on good practices and paradigms of success, problems and emerging solutions - particularly with regard to communicate and exploiting information about uncertainty.

One of the key challenges in ‘A European research and innovation Roadmap for Climate Services’, which has been initiated by the European Commission, is enhancing the quality and relevance of climate services. The workshop report will address this challenge by establishing confidence in the role of uncertainty in climate services.

The three-day meeting is organized by the FP7 project CLIPC jointly with EUPORIAS, EUCLEIA and QA4ECV. Host of the workshop is the Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS) in Hamburg.

The workshop is limited to 25 invited delegates.
