Lola Kotova is a scientist in the department regional und local climate change, which she joined in November 2011. Currently, Lola is actively involved in the CLIMATEUROPE project. The overall concept behind Climateurope is to create and manage a framework to coordinate, integrate and support Europe’s research and innovation activities in the fields of Earth-System modelling and climate services. Furthermore, Lola participates in the IMPREX project. IMPREX will improve society’s ability to anticipate and respond to future hydrological extreme events (floods, droughts...) in Europe. The knowledge developed by the project will support risk management and adaptation planning at European and national levels.

Her many years of experiences in participation and management of different national and international projects, e.g. CLAVIER, Climate for Culture, IMPACT2C, gave her valuable exposure to analyse the information demand of impact research regarding the climate data.

Working in various multi-disciplinary research teams, Lola had the opportunity to interact with scientists that were studying the impact of anthropogenic climate change in different aspects like water, agriculture, tourism, insurance, cultural heritage in different regions all around the world.

Within the “Climate for Culture” project, she actively participated in the development of the pilot studies for cultural heritage using the output of the climate models. As partner of the MikroKlima project, she focused on building an effective network between researchers from German and Central Asian universities as well as practitioners and academics from the target countries Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Lola graduated from Lomonosov Moscow State University (Faculty of Chemistry) and received her PhD in Geography from Saint Petersburg State University.
