Lars Buntemeyer is a scientific staff member of the Climate System department at the Climate Service Center Germany. He works mainly on the development of the regional climate model REMO and supports different projects on running the model on the new supercomputer 'Mistral' at the DKRZ.
From 2004 to 2009, Lars Buntemeyer studied physics and wrote his diploma thesis at the Hamburg Observatory on the subject of stellar atmospheres. After one year abroad, he worked for a short time at the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research in Bremerhaven in the area of sea ice physics. Afterwards, he returned to Hamburg to start his PhD in theoretical astrophysics with a focus on numerical methods of star formation simulations. Since November 2014, he works at the Climate Service Center as a scientific programmer.
