Annika Nolte joined GERICS as a doctoral candidate in December 2019. She works in the project "Future-H2O" within the Helmholtz Institute Climate Service Sciences (HICSS) in cooperation with the University of Hamburg on the development of a method to project the influence of anthropogenic and climatic drivers on groundwater recharge rates.
Annika Nolte studied Geoecology and Environmental Sciences at the Technical University of Braunschweig, focusing on applied topics in the fields of hydrology and water management as well as modelling and monitoring of pollutants in the environment. During a scientific internship at the East Coast of the United States and in her master thesis Annika was involved in local studies on the quantification of saltwater intrusion and groundwater recharge in coastal aquifers.
