Since September 2016, Dr. Barbara Malburg-Graf has been working as a scientific advisor in a half-day position for the office of the DKN (German Committee for Sustainability Research in Future Earth). The DKN acts as an independent, scientific advisory body to research funding agencies and as a national platform for scientists dealing with the topic of global sustainability.
Barbara Malburg-Graf holds a doctorate in geography and a degree in librarianship. From 1998 to 2010 she worked at the Institute of Geography at the University of Stuttgart, where she was involved in research and teaching on issues of sustainable land use and spatial development. The scientifically based, practical implementation of sustainable (spatial) development is still the focus of her interest today. She has completed a mediation training and, in addition to her work for the DKN, has been supporting actors in local and regional development on a freelance basis since 2010 by providing moderating support for development processes.
