Dante Castro Garro is a Ph.D. candidate in the BMBF junior research group ‘CoSynHealth –
Conflicts and synergies between carbon-neutral and healthy city scenarios’, led by Dr. Peter
Hoffmann. His research focuses on high-resolution future urban climate simulations using
regional climate model data and the high-resolution obstacle-resolving model PALM-4U to
determine future heat stress of urban dwellers.

Dante is a meteorologist who received his BSc from the Universidad Agraria La Molina, Peru
(2015) and finished the Integrated Climate System Sciences Master program at Universität
Hamburg (2023). Previously he worked for government institutions in Peru analyzing weather
and climate data for water resources management, studying the effects of weather on vectorborne diseases, and teaching the basics concepts of atmospheric sciences. In terms of
research, he is interested in how weather and climate affect disease dynamics and providing
tools for society.
