Chiara Bernardini currently works as researcher in the Horizon Europe funded CLIMABOROUGH project, developing a KPIs based tool to measure progresses towards Climate Neutrality in cities, designing climate services for urban planning and producing customized climate services for urban procurement processes.
Previously, she worked as Postdoc research fellow at the ABC Department (Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering) of Politecnico di Milano.

She got a BSc in Architecture in 2015 and, after 6 months travelling across Europe by bike and taking part in cooperation projects focused on renewable energy in Guatemala and India, she completed her training with a MSc in Management of Built Environment (graduated with honors: 110/110) at Politecnico di Milano.

In 2018 she was selected and enrolled in a PhD program at Politecnico di Milano and started developing her research on soft-approach adaptation to climate change. In 2022 she presented her PhD thesis "Climate change and human systems. Innovative Adaptation services as a Soft-resilience strategy to tackle emerging risks", dealing with Local Adaptation Plans and strategies for the operative integration between Climate services and Urban Facility Management services. The thesis earned honors and was selected for publication in the Springer serie “SpriengerBriefs”.

Besides work commitments, her life mission is to reconcile the research career with her passion for conversations with nice people, mountaineering, bike trips in remote regions, literature and classical music.
