Karoline Berg joined GERICS and the BMBF Junior Research Group Co-Creating Climate Services for Care Economy and Caring Society (CoCareSociety) in July 2023. The goal of the CoCareSociety project is to understand the interrelations between climate change, long-term care, health, and well-being of the elderly, and their energy efficiency in the living environment and how changes can be induced in the interconnected systems to maximise health-climate-energy nexus outcomes for co-creating a friendly, climate-resilient, affordable, sustainable society for the future society.

After studying public administration, information management and sociology, Karoline obtained her Master of Social Sciences from Åbo Akademi University, Finland. She has also finished an interdisciplinary study program in sustainability studies at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland.

Karoline has practical experience in information and communication services, project and events management as well as adult teaching. Before joining GERICS, she most recently worked at the City of Helsinki, where the emphasis of her work was outreach, strategic partnerships and the elderly.

As part of the BMBF Junior Research Group, Karoline’s main responsibilities concern the co-development and management of the citizen science platform. Other tasks include project management and reporting as well as organizational tasks that support the research activities such as stakeholder workshops.
