Trainings

GERICS develops training concepts for the integration of climate change information into practice, and tools to support education and training. Our training programmes are developed in a user specific way. Target groups are decision makers from different sectors, representatives from local politics, municipal administration and professional associations, financial managers, and consulting engineers from areas such as civil engineering, water, and energy.

In cooperation with the "European Financing Institutions Working Group on Climate Change Adaptation" (EUFIWACC) and the German KfW Development Bank, GERICS has developed a two-step approach for the integration and assessment of climate change information in development projects and climate risk analyses. It comprises s training for project managers of development banks as well as an information day for consultants.

GERICS is currently developing trainings for university education, e.g. for hydraulic and environmental engineers in cooperation with Technische Universität Hamburg Harburg (TUHH) on the topic of “Adaptation to climate change in the practice of hydraulic engineering”. The background is that almost all areas of water management and hydraulic engineering are affected by climate change impacts.

EasyREMO

The user-friendly desktop version of the regional climate model REMO is aimed in particular at users in regions of the world where there is no access to high-performance computers. In addition, EasyREMO can be used as a tool for further education.
