First African Climate Risk Conference in Ethiopia

Logo African Climate Risk Conference

From 7 to 9 October, the first African Climate Risk Conference (ACRC) took place at United Nations Conference Centre in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia. The conference provided an open platform for sharing the latest research on African climate among researchers, policy makers, Regional Climate Centers, National Meteorological and Hydrological Services, and development partners.

GERCIS, represented by Dr. Torsten Weber, informed the audience about the latest results on the impact of regional atmosphere-ocean coupling on rainfall over Africa by a talk, and about the development and evaluation of user-initiated climate service products by a poster.

The ACRC aimed at to ensure greater impact and legacy of completed and ongoing research programs by promoting the uptake of new data, tools and knowledge; brokering new research collaborations; and coordinating targeted donor support.
